I have the present good fortune of having suffered very bad adolescent acne. Which means that now all that excess oil is paying off. My skin looks pretty damn good for my 57 years. But that also means that moisturizing my middle aged face can have mixed results. Too much emollient can make me look greasy, too little cannot do the job that my estrogen free derma sorely needs. So I guess I have what they, in the skin care business, call “combination skin.” I’ve been using Bare Minerals powder base with SPF 15, rouge and their Mineral Veil , which supposedly helps maintain the freshness of the other two (and I think it actually does!), and wanted to try a new facial cleanser and moisturizer. So I got the Bare Minerals Purifying Facial Cleanser and the Bare Minerals Purely Nourishing Moisurizer for combination skin . I have to say that whatever is in their “Rare Minerals ActiveSoil Complex” leaves your skin literally feeling silkier than anything I’ve ever used in the past. It’s really quite amazing. The cleanser is gentle but does a very good job of removing oil, dirt and makeup, and the moisturizer is very light and clean feeling. I like the whole idea behind the Bare Escentuals line and am happy to have found what I think will work well for me. And it doesn’t cost a bloody fortune!
